ABOUT MINA:

Mina is a precious little girl recently rescued from an orphanage in Eastern Europe who is now finally home with her forever family! She had been without a mother or father to love her & care for her each day. No one to rock her, kiss her gently or tell her she's loved. She is blessed with an extra chromosome known as Down syndrome, which for her that meant a life of being viewed as worthless in the country she was born into & a life without hope. Because of this her parents gave her up at the age of 6 months when they found out the diagnosis & from there her life progressivly went down hill. We are the Gower family residing in OKC who recently adopted this little angel. She was extremely malnourished and unable to do just about anything when we first met her. She will be 2 in January & is the size of a 3-6 month old weighing 14lbs. She continues to amaze us at how quickly she is progressing with love and nutrition. She has learned to sit up, roll over, feed herself finger foods, hold her own bottle and loves to interact with toys and other children. Her life has changed so much in such a short period of time and will forever be changed! Thank you Lord for putting a burden on our hearts to rescue this little blessing and making her apart of our family!

Oh how the buying experiences differ

Yay! We got to get out today!! Thank you all for your prayers! I definitely felt much better today. We all 3 went to this morning’s visit and Myla was so excited to get to go play and see her sister again. We attempted to go outside but a cold front has come through so it was a little chilly. But we are certainly not at all complaining because this cool weather is so wonderful compared to the heat we’ve been out in. So our visits today we spent most the time in the ball pit. I think we may have to get them a ball pit when we get home. Mina sure does love it and she was doing great today sitting up in it on her own!!!

The rest of the day we spent with our Okie friends venturing around town. Between our afternoon visits we walked around to little vendor booths and little shops. I found the girls some matryoshka dolls that are the wooden nesting dolls. I was so excited to get them each a set of those. I forgot to take a pic to include in today’s post. We also bought Myla a coat because it was chilly and we didn’t bring her a coat. It was fun for us to all walk around and just browse a bit. We wondered into a big meat market type place and boy was that nasty. I am so thankful I don’t have to buy meat like that back home. It was all hot and stinky and there was all types of animal parts I had never even seen before and pretty sure most of which I would never want to eat. Be sure to check out the pig head :)  We also went by the fruit market so we could buy fruit to take a basket of fruit up to the caregivers and nurses for a gift.

After the afternoon visit we got back out and walked to the Supermarket and bought a few groceries, more chocolate of course :) and ate dinner from their cafeteria area.  One thing we've learned is if you see something you want get it immediately or it will be gone.  Darla and I were going to get chicken kabobs and then once we got a tray and walked back up there they were all gone.  Then I was going to get a few of these meat filled pocket fried bread type things (which are quite tasty) and there was several of those but by the time I went to get them they were gone.... So what we've learned today is grab what you want when you see it :)

Myla loves to swing!!!

Precious little shoes they put on her today! So cute & they actually fit!

Sisters playing!!

Here is the market we entered:

And the pig head!! Gotta love that! Pig anyone?

Birds pecking away at the side of a bag of rice.

This afternoon we also went by the fruit market area and bought a variety of fruits to take Mina's caregivers and nurses a basket of fruit for a gift!

More ball pit fun!!!

Balls are a great idea for helping her sit up by herself. Both your sweet girls are beautiful and I am so happy Mina has your family now..you are so blessed.

Oh my gosh, she gets cuter with every picture! How awesome that Myla was able to come along and experience all of this with you! A family from the start!

And her pics with her doll.... oh my gosh I think my heart just melted! If her hair gets some wonky long loops, just go in the middle of the loops by her head and find the tight ones, stick your finger in the middle of them nad pull up, it will make them all uniform size again.
