Mina is a precious little girl recently rescued from an orphanage in Eastern Europe who is now finally home with her forever family! She had been without a mother or father to love her & care for her each day. No one to rock her, kiss her gently or tell her she's loved. She is blessed with an extra chromosome known as Down syndrome, which for her that meant a life of being viewed as worthless in the country she was born into & a life without hope. Because of this her parents gave her up at the age of 6 months when they found out the diagnosis & from there her life progressivly went down hill. We are the Gower family residing in OKC who recently adopted this little angel. She was extremely malnourished and unable to do just about anything when we first met her. She will be 2 in January & is the size of a 3-6 month old weighing 14lbs. She continues to amaze us at how quickly she is progressing with love and nutrition. She has learned to sit up, roll over, feed herself finger foods, hold her own bottle and loves to interact with toys and other children. Her life has changed so much in such a short period of time and will forever be changed! Thank you Lord for putting a burden on our hearts to rescue this little blessing and making her apart of our family!

Flowers, walk around the orphanage, & a broken stroller

This morning we thought we would just take a stroll around the orphanage. Here are some beautiful flowers to brighten things up a bit.

Thirsty girl....

Ahhh.... much better!

Another thirsty girl!

She's watching her sister!

While we were out for our walk we passed by 2 caregivers pushing strollers. One of the wheels had broken off the stroller. Jim tried to fix it but it was done.

This precious baby in the underneath basket on the stroller just kept starring at Jim while he tried to fix it.

Precious precious babies

Ok.... so I thought I should clarify the other picture comparing the size of children in the previous post on the railing is not of Mina and Myla. Myla is pictured on the left but the little girl on the right is the little girl being adopted by another family. Mina is not at all able to stand up yet. We did our best attempt to get a picture of Mina and Myla side to side to show you the difference in size. They are 6 months apart.

Myla (on the left 26months) Mina (on the right 20months)

it breaks my heart to see so many sweet babies that dont have a Mommy and Daddy to love them. it must just kill you to have to see them in real life.

Wow what a difference, even given DS! I knew that Mina couldn't stand, but still thought the other pic was her :)
