ABOUT MINA:

Mina is a precious little girl recently rescued from an orphanage in Eastern Europe who is now finally home with her forever family! She had been without a mother or father to love her & care for her each day. No one to rock her, kiss her gently or tell her she's loved. She is blessed with an extra chromosome known as Down syndrome, which for her that meant a life of being viewed as worthless in the country she was born into & a life without hope. Because of this her parents gave her up at the age of 6 months when they found out the diagnosis & from there her life progressivly went down hill. We are the Gower family residing in OKC who recently adopted this little angel. She was extremely malnourished and unable to do just about anything when we first met her. She will be 2 in January & is the size of a 3-6 month old weighing 14lbs. She continues to amaze us at how quickly she is progressing with love and nutrition. She has learned to sit up, roll over, feed herself finger foods, hold her own bottle and loves to interact with toys and other children. Her life has changed so much in such a short period of time and will forever be changed! Thank you Lord for putting a burden on our hearts to rescue this little blessing and making her apart of our family!

Market, Afternoon visit, Mina sitting up like a PRO!

Ok so after lunch we went to the market.  Here I was in their make-shift dressing room trying on a pair of pants :)  ha ha  Darla & Julia enjoyed this.  Most people just strip down and try clothes on wherever... not this modest American :)  Needless to say... i bought the pants.

In the market there is stuff everywhere.  It is narrow walk ways that are crowded with people and you have very little "Personal space." Julia is awesome cause she will ask the price of everything for us that we are interested in so that is a HUGE help!  It is sure a lot of fun going shopping with 2 women who speak English :)

They were all starting to close up shop by the time I thought to take pics so it's not very busy. How would you all like coming to do all your shopping at a place like this??  Thankfully today was a much cooler day for it! Julia says these people are here during the heat of the summer and cold in the winter everyday and get there early in the morning to set up and then tear down each day.

And this is wahat it looks like empty at the end of a busy day.... i say empty yet notice all the trash and debris left EVERYWHERE!  Julia says that someone else will come through and clean it all up.  To bad each individual person doesn't just keep there own area clean at the end of the day

After we finished shopping we just headed back to the orphanage for the afternoon visit.  We were tired and achy after all that walking but Julia is a pro & used to all this walking.... she even does it all in high heels.  I had on tennis shoes & my feet were killing me.

Here's a Cute video of Mina from our afternoon visit.  She is SITTING UP in the stroller all by herself.  i sat her up, got her balanced and she sat there for quite some time.  I am so proud of this girl.  She has come so far in just a couple of weeks.  She even fell over at one point and pulled herself back up! YAY MINA Mommy is so PROUD!!

I love when grips my hand and holds on tight... so precious!
