ABOUT MINA:

Mina is a precious little girl recently rescued from an orphanage in Eastern Europe who is now finally home with her forever family! She had been without a mother or father to love her & care for her each day. No one to rock her, kiss her gently or tell her she's loved. She is blessed with an extra chromosome known as Down syndrome, which for her that meant a life of being viewed as worthless in the country she was born into & a life without hope. Because of this her parents gave her up at the age of 6 months when they found out the diagnosis & from there her life progressivly went down hill. We are the Gower family residing in OKC who recently adopted this little angel. She was extremely malnourished and unable to do just about anything when we first met her. She will be 2 in January & is the size of a 3-6 month old weighing 14lbs. She continues to amaze us at how quickly she is progressing with love and nutrition. She has learned to sit up, roll over, feed herself finger foods, hold her own bottle and loves to interact with toys and other children. Her life has changed so much in such a short period of time and will forever be changed! Thank you Lord for putting a burden on our hearts to rescue this little blessing and making her apart of our family!

Comments/ answers to comments posted!

Thank you all for all the comments! It is so wonderful to read what everyone has to say and so very encouraging.  Here is a response to some posts.

Sarah,  I think back to your blog often and how quickly Zoya changed through visits and once she made it home and it amazed me everytime I would get on and read a new post.  In the same aspect every change we see in Mina each day amazes us as well. It is wonderful how quickly they can change with love.  The diaper thing just cracks me up cause it's like seriously the child is not even technically in our care and how much is it really going to save them for us to bring 2 diapers each day.  I guess every penny adds up when you ask each family to bring diapers for the child they are adopting. Oh well we will of course be buying diapers for a while anyways so why not start now :)  LOL  I can't wait to give her some of these pedialyte packets we brought per your advice and help get her hydrated.

Molly the little boy on RR that we saw in Mina's groupa is named Toby (26)  He is ADORABLE!!  We saw him sitting in a walker the other day.  He looks healthier (or I should say has more meat on his bones) than the other children.  He doesn't even look to us like he has DS (although I'm sure he does.... he just doesnt look it)  He is so precious! I would love it if you would advocate for him and help find the little guy a family.  He is listed under the children under the age of 2.  Here's his info:

Toby is another tiny one, perfect age to blend seamlessly into a new family and benefit from early ntervention. He does have a heart murmur which will need to be followed by a cardiologist once home.

I have $1010 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

ANYONE READING MY BLOG NEED A NEWEST LITTLE ADDITION????? HERE HE IS WAITING FOR YOU :)

Molly, If you are talking about the other little boy that always walks out the door to see us and is pictured with his face up against the glass door I don't think he is listed with RR.... but he is sure a sweety and I would love for him to find a family to.  Unfortunately I have absolutely no info on him.

Melissa,  Mina does have a bloody sore spot on her nose.  She has pretty much had it since we got here.  It will start to get better and look like it's going away but then I don't know if they pick the scab off or if she some how does but it will be worse on certain days than others.  Hopefully it will be completely gone soon.  It of course doesn't seem to bother her a bit so she is ok.

PLEASE KEEP THE COMMENTS COMING.... WE LOOK FORWARD TO READING THEM EACH DAY!

Hi! I'm a fellow RR Mom. Your blog is one of my favorites to check! Your girls are beautiful, and I can't wait to see all the future changes in Mina! She is already too cute, I can just imagine her with some meat on her bones! The difference in size is amazing! From the pictures I though Mina was around 9-12 months.
Congratulations on your court date!!
