ABOUT MINA:

Mina is a precious little girl recently rescued from an orphanage in Eastern Europe who is now finally home with her forever family! She had been without a mother or father to love her & care for her each day. No one to rock her, kiss her gently or tell her she's loved. She is blessed with an extra chromosome known as Down syndrome, which for her that meant a life of being viewed as worthless in the country she was born into & a life without hope. Because of this her parents gave her up at the age of 6 months when they found out the diagnosis & from there her life progressivly went down hill. We are the Gower family residing in OKC who recently adopted this little angel. She was extremely malnourished and unable to do just about anything when we first met her. She will be 2 in January & is the size of a 3-6 month old weighing 14lbs. She continues to amaze us at how quickly she is progressing with love and nutrition. She has learned to sit up, roll over, feed herself finger foods, hold her own bottle and loves to interact with toys and other children. Her life has changed so much in such a short period of time and will forever be changed! Thank you Lord for putting a burden on our hearts to rescue this little blessing and making her apart of our family!

Visa & headed home in the AM!!!

We are so excited and jumping up and down shouting with JOY!!! Today we went to the US Embassy and got Mina's Visa and packet of paperwork to give to the US when we go through customs once we land in Washington DC! It only took about 45 minutes to get everything!

There was a couple other families there from the US getting Visa's for the children they adopted and it was wonderful to sit and visit with them.   One was a lady from TX adopting a 14 year old boy who they had hosted last Christmas time to come and stay with them and they had been there for about 8 weeks.  Another was a woman who adopted twin 16 year old girls.  The girls were absolutely beautiful! They were getting ready to age out of the orphanage and so they came across the host list and the family was going to host them until they couldn't be because they got to old and were having to leave the orphanage so they decided to adopt them.  It was so wonderful and so joyful to see those two girls happy and excited with their new mom. I sat there and thought about how their lives so quickly changed and how now the life of them living on the streets, possibly turning to prostiution, and possibly ending up dead by the age of 20 is Very unlikely at this point because a couple stepped forward in faith and said yes to them. There lives will forever be completely changed.  Praise the Lord!!

So tonight we took the girls to TGI Fridays!! Yes our last meal before we head back home was American food :)  It was so tasty too!! I am so excited if you can't hear me screaming through the computer I am screaming inside.  Tomorrow at 4am Nikolay will be here to pick us up and take us to the airport.  We have everything we need and Mina is officially ours and very soon once we land in the good ole USA she will be officially an American citizen. I sure hope I can get some sleep tonight and the excitement and anticipation doesn't keep me up with wandering thoughts :)

I tried to post a few recent pics for you while we were at TGIF and had wifi but after numerous attempts I gave up.  So I will have to post some pics once we are back home!! Thank you all for following along our journey. We will continue to post pics, videos, and stories as our precious Mina changes, learns and grows so you all can continue and follow along if you'd like. Next post from the USA!!! Horray!!!

Blessings to everyone of you!
